.Mike W. Benjamin is a  former student of  Paul Carter Harrison professor and playwright

 Michael W. Benjamin holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Dramatic Arts from California State University, Sacramento and a Lifetime Community College Theatre Arts Teaching Credential.

 He has over 30 years of teaching experience specializing in technical theater.

·           He has studied under renowned Professor Paul Carter Harrison at Sacramento State University, Sacramento 1969-1973.

Michael has produced and directed numerous theatrical masterpieces which include award winning Pulitzer Prize plays such as "PIANO LESSON" and "FENCES" by August Wilson, "A RAISIN IN THE SUN" by Lorraine Hansberry and "SIMPLY HEAVENLY" by Langston Hughes.

In 1990 he won Best Set Designer Award for the play "ALL MY SONS", 1998 Best Set Designer Award for the World Champion Freelancers Drummer and Bugle Corp of Sacramento, California and in 1999 Women's Civic Improvement Center/ PLAYMATE "Theatre Arts Star Award of Decades" in Sacramento, California.

·           Michael was the first African- American voted into Sacramento's Stagehand Union Local 50.

He has had the opportunity to teach and direct Chrystale Wilson (actress in Players Club who played the role of "Ronnie"), and he also directed renowned actor Hal Williams in the play "Entrepreneurs" by Kathryn L. Webster at the Black Theatre Festival in 1999.

·           Michael has directed several plays addressing community health issues in conjunction with the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission and Mutual Assistance Network for several years.

  He has also taught numerous Theatre Arts classes for "Troubled Teens" for the Sacramento Unified School District in 2002.
